Communications analysts play a vital role in:
- providing strategic communications and engagement advice to support government priorities;
- keeping the public informed about government programs, services and initiatives;
- responding to emerging issues; and
- liaising with the media.

What's in the job description
- Research, develop and implement communication strategies and plans.
- Develop and implement information and social marketing campaigns.
- Plan and deliver public engagement initiatives.
- Liaise with the media, respond to media queries, prepare spokespeople and organize news conferences.
- Identify and analyze emerging issues.
- Work on a range of products including news releases, speeches, social media and web content, advertisements, newsletters, reports and brochures.
Pay and benefits
- The annual salary for a communications analyst is in our level 14 pay range.
- Many communications analysts move on to become senior communications advisors which are in the level 16 pay range.

Training
We support a culture of ongoing training to keep current with the communications profession and government needs. To broaden awareness and deepen learning, employees can access the training the Government of Yukon provides on topics such as wellness and resiliency, communication and collaboration skills, leadership, reconciliation and First Nations, finance and health and safety. Government of Yukon employees can also access funding for degree programs and other training.

Job requirements
To be considered for a communications analyst position at the Government of Yukon, you may need:
- a degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, business or public administration, English literature or a related field;
- experience developing, implementing and managing a full range of communications and marketing initiatives; and
- experience writing for a wide variety of audiences, formats and channels.
