Teslin se trouve sur le territoire traditionnel du Conseil des Tlingits de Teslin. 

Située à l’embouchure de la rivière Nisutlin dans le lac Teslin, la localité de Teslin est un endroit idéal pour les loisirs nautiques comme la navigation de plaisance, la pêche et le canotage.

Le village est également un centre touristique actif où de nombreux visiteurs s’arrêtent pendant les mois d’été lorsqu’ils sillonnent la route de l’Alaska. La localité propose des hébergements, des dépanneurs, une banque et d’autres services.
