Dawson City is situated on the Traditional Territory of the Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in First Nation.
Ever since the gritty and glamorous gold rush days, Dawson City has been a good-time town. While there’s far less gold dust on the floors now, the entertainment goes on with fun festivals, cultural events and unique contests, such as gold-panning competitions and outhouse races.
Dawson City is a bustling and lively community that has managed to preserve its past and visitors and residents alike can easily step back in time and experience its rich history. It's also one of the Yukon's larger communities with a selection of restaurants, shops, grocery stores and bars. It has a vibrant arts scene with the help of the Klondike Institute of Art and Culture, the Dawson City Arts Society and the Yukon School of Visual Arts. In the summer, there are also several festivals, including the Dawson City Music Festival, Yukon Riverside Arts Festival and Print & Publishing Festival.
