Carcross is situated on the Traditional Territory of the Carcross/Tagish First Nation.
The small town of Carcross has a unique blend of gold rush history and First Nations culture, all in a stunning setting among the mountains and lakes of southern Yukon.
The town itself is a relatively short drive to Whitehorse at just 45 minutes, and has a host of tourism-driven businesses including the Caribou Hotel, Matthew Watson General Store, and a retail village called the Carcross Commons, where you'll find Caribou Crossing Coffee Shop. The commons is hard to miss because it features impressive First Nations artwork painted on the buildings themselves.
Carcross has plenty to offer including the world-class mountain biking trails on historic Montana Mountain, the White Pass railway connection to Skagway, AK and the majestic waters of Lake Bennett which marks the end of the historic Chilkoot trail.
