Job description:
- Provides a range of direct clinical services including assessment and examination, screening, interpretation of test results, diagnosis, treatment, counselling, case management and referrals;
- assesses urgency and behavioural risk factors, including risk to self or others, and takes appropriate action to reduce risks to individuals and the public at large;
- coordinates and manages communicable disease investigations and outbreaks, contact tracing and follow up activities for reportable blood borne diseases, vaccine preventable diseases, sexually transmitted infections, tuberculosis, enteric and zoonotic diseases;
- delivers preventive services in the form of client and public education, consultation with health, social and educational professionals, and individual counselling which embodies the principles of harm reduction;
- participates in the planning and implementation of educational and clinical services required to manage outbreaks;
- assists in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of comprehensive communicable disease control programs and services;
- researches, prepares and/or acquires resources for the delivery of communicable disease programming throughout the Yukon;
- participates in the professional development of community health nurses, locum physicians, medical students, auxiliary infectious disease nurses, nursing students and others;
- develops or assists in developing and implementing surveillance strategies and works collaboratively for the collection and review of epidemiological data to support the day to day decision making concerning communicable disease control in the territory; and
- when necessary represents the department on national and inter-jurisdictional (including international) committees related to communicable disease control by attending meetings and teleconferences, reviewing correspondence and materials.

Job requirements:
- Current registration with a Canadian registered nursing regulatory authority clearly marked in your resume;
- Baccalaureate in nursing or Baccalaureate of science in nursing;
- recent experience and/or training as a nurse in a public health role;
- recent experience in an expanded nursing role that includes diagnosis and treatment in either primary care with management of infectious diseases, public health or related field, or sexually transmitted infections services, or management of reportable communicable diseases as an asset;
- vulnerable sector RCMP security clearance;
- TB screening;
- valid Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent;
- current CPR-HCP issued within the last 2 years; and
- WHMIS 2015 (within one month of hire).
